"The Argonautic is your reliable companion – in extreme depths of water and naturally above the surface. Functionality and good readability were the two leitmotifs used to develop this solid stainless steel model, which effortlessly resists atmospheric pressure of up to 33 ATM. The automatic calibre is well-protected beneath an extra thick sapphire glass front and a screwdown stainless steel back. The winding crown, set within robust flank protection, and the helium valve at 10 o’clock are also screw elements. The helium valve has been specially developed for professional deep sea divers who use a diving bell. This is filled with a mixture of helium and oxygen. Helium molecules are lighter than air. So when returning to the surface, the helium molecules do not escape from the watch case as quickly as air, which results in a build-up of pressure that can even cause the glass and the gasket to burst out of the case. To avoid this scenario occurring, the helium valve is opened while the diver gradually resurfaces, so that helium can escape from the watch case more rapidly.
The unidirectional rotatable bezel frames a matt black dial with white Super-LumiNova index figures and hands. A chunky stainless steel links strap is more than a match for the sturdy case construction, and is rounded off by an extremely reliable double safety folding clasp."
